Brian Sims for Congress?

Is state Rep. Brian Sims pondering a congressional run for U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah's seat?

As you might've read in the Daily News Clout column last week, Democratic ward leader Dan Muroff has been making some noise about challenging indicted U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah in next year's primary.

The Inquirer's Chris Brennan has more today, reporting that Muroff has filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission.

But, hold on folks, a tipster sent us the photo of the above sticker hinting at a possible congressional run for state Rep. Brian Sims. He spotted it at 18th and Walnut streets.

Sims, the first openly gay person elected to the Legislature, takes pride in his political independence. And what better way to prove it than challenging a sitting congressman from your own party!

We reached out to Sims' office for comment and chief of staff Mason Lane e-mailed back: "We saw the sticker as well. It was not created by us, and we don't know who did." Sims has previously told us that he's focused on the budget process in Harrisburg.

But, then again, his name keeps coming up. Usually there's a reason for that.
