Bill Green Switches Law Firms

As you may know, many City Council members also hold outside employment. According to this press release, Councilman Bill Green has joined the law firm of Kutak Rock. He previously was with Pepper Hamilton.

Here's the announcement:

William J. Green Joins Kutak Rock LLP

Philadelphia-Attorney William J. Green has joined the Philadelphia office of the national law firm Kutak Rock LLP as an of counsel attorney. He is leaving the Philadelphia firm of Pepper Hamilton, LLP.

Green will focus his practice on corporate transactions and the provision of legal counsel to emerging companies and those who invest in them. His breadth of experience positions him as a conduit in the Delaware Valley for Kutak Rock's national expertise in corporate transactions, information technology, health care, employment and ERISA, commercial and products litigation, real estate finance, secured transactions and regulatory work, among other Kutak Rock practice areas.

"Bill is an excellent addition to Kutak Rock," said David Jacobson, Chairman of Kutak Rock. "He understands the Kutak Rock business model, our culture and our commitment to diversity. Bill provides a unique addition to our firm's presence in the Northeast and will enhance our legal capability nationally as well. He understands the interplay and balance between business and legal risks, and uses that insight and experience to the benefit of clients. Bill will join us in providing the excellent level of legal services Kutak Rock's clients have come to expect," added Jacobson.

Green has experience representing Fortune 50 public companies, emerging companies, private equity and venture funds, and entrepreneurs in all aspects of their activities. He also has significant experience managing legal and business issues related to mergers and acquisitions, tender offers, venture and private equity, securities offerings (equity and debt, including high yield) and compliance, corporate governance, joint ventures, outsourcing, cross border matters, intellectual property and litigation. He has served as lead deal lawyer on transactions ranging from several million to over a billion dollars.

Green has an understanding of the challenges his clients face as he practiced in-house as general counsel for multiple start-ups and held positions as general counsel, corporate counsel, and secretary of a Fortune 50 company and a Fortune 500 company.

Green earned his juris doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania. He is a dual citizen of the United States and the European Union (Ireland).

Since 2008 Green has served as a Councilman-At-Large on Philadelphia's City Council. His practice at Kutak Rock is distinct from and in addition to his continuing service on the City Council.
