It's Election Day and throngs of the city's African-American politicians head to Relish Restaurant in Northwest to discuss the race and voter turnout over lunch.
"It's so slow," said Councilman Curtis Jones Jr. who made his way to the restaurant on Ogontz Avenue near Walnut Lane after casting his vote at 8 a.m. "I was the 24th person. This is a real sleeper."
Jones added that the excitement seems to be on the Republican side.
Moments later Councilman Bill Green arrived and echoed similar sentiments.
"It's a very slow turnout this morning," Green said.
Both Jones, who is unopposed and Green, who is expected to breeze through reelection are looking forward to working with the incoming Council.
There will be at least six new faces on Council –the most since 1991when seven new members were elected.
"I'm excited about the group of new people and continuing to try to work with the Mayor," Green said.
And out of the five Republicans vying for the two at-large seats Green expects that state Rep. Denny O'Brien will pull through.
