Chris Wright, chief of staff to City Councilman Jack Kelly, was arraigned this afternoon along with the two real estate developers and their attorney that Wright allegedly helped in exchange for bribes.

Chris Brennan reports that Wright was arraigned at the federal courthouse at 6th and Market, as were real estate developers Ravinder and Hardeep Chawla and their attorney Andrew Teitelman.  Wright reportedly  received $16,000 in cash, gifts, a free apartment near Rittenhouse square and free legal services in exchange for his assistance.

All four defendants were released on their own recognizance but could face up to $10,000 in fines if they violate the terms of their release.

Wright was ordered to undergo random drug testing and to submit to treatment for drug and alcohol issues as the government deems it necessary.

Ravinder Chawla was ordered to surrender his firearm collection, which has 15 guns. He and Teitelman will be permitted to travel to St. Martens with government approval for meetings about a resort they are building there.

Not live in Phila.? And do what for excitement, drink ourselves to death for amusement? Here in Phila., our politicians ARE The Big Top; the three ring circus, the men with the big shoes and red noses, fright wigs and makeup. It's a question of expectations. I EXPECT our politicians to be incompetent fools in league with the unions, whenever possible. Just because you cross City Line Ave., it doesn't make the politicians automatically smarter, more honest, etc. They just get away with it more.
