UPDATE: The Mayor's press office has updated the release to note that the contest is open to anyone -- NOT just city residents. And winners will be notified after noon on Oct 24th, not Oct. 23rd. So you have until before noon Friday to get your entry in!

MAYOR NUTTER TO RAFFLE OFF WORLD SERIES TICKETS

Philadelphia, October 22,, 2008 – Today Mayor Michael A. Nutter announced a drawing for World Series tickets. Six tickets, awarded in pairs of two, will be given to watch each of the three home games.* Citizens can win the tickets by correctly answering the trivia question below and emailing the response to philliesticketraffle@gmail.com by noon on Friday, October 24th. Nine winners, for a total of 18 tickets, will be randomly selected from qualifying respondents.
“I know all Philadelphians share my excitement about the World Series and I want to give everyone a chance to watch the games with me,” said Mayor Nutter. “Head to your local library, send me an email with the correct answer, and come Saturday night you might be watching the game from the Mayor’s Box.”

Contest Rules:
Answer the following trivia question and place your response in the subject line of the email. In the body of the email, include your name, address and telephone number. Winners will be notified after noon on Thursday, October 23rd. The contest is open to Philadelphia residents only. City employees are ineligible for this drawing but are welcome to participate in a separate drawing open only to City workers.

*Game five will only occur if neither team wins the first four games.

This is a great idea - the only question I have is...isn't it highly likely that the correct answer to this question is going to cause all emails with correct answers to end up being filtered out??? ;)

So entry deadline is Friday at noon, but they notify winners after noon on Thursday? I think the voting works like that in Philly too!

Chris Brennan, a native Philadelphian and graduate of Temple University, joined the Daily News in 1999. He has written about SEPTA, the Philadelphia School District, the legalization of casino gambling, state government, the mayor, the governor, City Council and political campaigns.
