The University of Pennsylvania's Division of Public Safety just issued this warning about a "possible large gathering" at 40th and Market streets:
The Division of Public Safety has been made aware through various sources that a large gathering of juveniles will be convening on the 40th Street corridor later this afternoon. DPS is working closely with the City of Philadelphia and SEPTA Police to ensure there will be an enhanced police presence in the area.
Please plan your routes away from 40th Street this afternoon.

- I did some research on this and found out that Spain had a similar problem a few years ago and this is how they solved it: They set up the fire department pumps with a blue dye. As soon as the mob got unruly, they sprayed the rioters with the dye. For the next 24 hours, anyone caught with the skin dyed blue was arrested and charged with felony rioting. End of problem.— DonQ

The problems of South Philly High, flash mobs, and "catch and wreck" are ruining this city, and nothing is being done about it. Anyone seriously contemplating moving to the burbs because of this is about as fainthearted as they come. You should never have been here to begin with, and are not part of the solution. We don’t need people who will run the first time someone says “boo,” that’s not how we get this thing corrected, and that’s not what this city was founded on. Where is your pride? Make sure you don’t tell your children when they ask you why you moved out of Philadelphia that you ran away from a few unruly teenagers.— gho_matt
