Former Republican Gov. Tom Ridge tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that the presidential race might be in a different place if he had been the vice president selection. As you know, with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin at his side, Republican Sen. John McCain is trailing Democratic Sen. Barack Obama in the polls -- including the PA polls.

Here's the key paragraph from the story:

"I think the dynamics would be different in Pennsylvania," Ridge said when asked if he should have been chosen to run as vice president over Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. "I think we'd be foolish not to admit it publicly."

I don't think so Tom. Palin is keeping the Republican base energized.

All the recent polls show that Pailin has energized the base but has little to no support from Independents and the McCain people see her as dragging down the ticket beynd the base. Ridge could have made Pennsylvania competitive, Romney could have made Michigan a red state. So what if the base didn't like them, the base had nowhere to go and in most red states their extra votes are meaningless.

To McSameOldBush.... Completely off topic first and foremost. Secondly point by point: Single handly destroyed the American dream? Might I remind you that Congress is a democrat majority with Ms. Pelosi as speaker and Mr. Reid as Senate Majority leader? Further, it is congress who votes to spend money, not the President. Public Education. Apprarently sir, your a victim of it. It has not worked in the last 20 years. Test scores have been going down for a long time before the Republic control prior to the democratic control we now see. Corporate welfare and big oil. Do you actually understand the differnence between profit and a profit margin? The profit margin in the oil industry has not changes in 25 years. Simply put, if it costs me 1.00 to produce a widget, and my margin is 10%, the cost to the consumer is 1.10. Now if it costs me 2.00 and my margin remains at 10%, the cost is 2.20 a 100% increase in profit. Its not big oil! Further, windfall profit taxes. The oil industry average is approximately 9%. The software industry is 30%. So, if Sun, Apple, Microsoft, IBM or HP comes up witht the next revolutionary product, do we levy that tax against them? For te balance of your posting, I feel very sorry for you. When did you first become inflicted with class envy? I'm a work-a-holic as is my wife. We chose some years ago not to have children because we wanted to start and grow our financial futures as well as our employees. My wife and I have over 45 families who have a person working with us. Now, taking it to the logical conclusion, we financially comfortable, not setup, comfortable. Do you beleive I should be paying more because I make over $250,000? If I do, some of our employees will be getting laid off. Hard cold economics. Nothing more, nothing less. God Bless America!

Tom Ridge would have made a difference. The race would be over and Obama would win in a landslide. Ridge offered nothing that would bring in votes for McCain and that is why he was not picked. Ridge and Biden would have disappeared never to be heard from. We are talking about Gov. Palin all the time whether you like her or not. In any political race, publicity is everything. Underdogs have to get attention to win or like Bob Dole go out quietly in the night. The McCain/Palin ticket may or may not win, but there is no denying the fact that they have made this a race.

We would have lost PA by double digits with him on the ticket. Hiselectoral clout is zero. He was a BUSH ADMINISTRATOR FOLKs!!! The Dems would have Duck Taped McCain to Bush and Ridge and laughed at him for his pick of the color code genius. Ridge is absolutely delusional. The quicker he is out of the party the better as well.
