Morgan Zalot looks at possible motivating factors for youths in the city who have taken part in random, violent attacks.

Two teens who savagely beat a Vietnam veteran in Olney last month were both sentenced to four years' detention. Meanwhile, three teens who randomly beat a cabbie and his passenger  in Center City were denied bail.

Gov. Corbett wants to eliminate the state's General Assistance Program.

    I wouldn't say it's on the rise. I would say it's just being reported more. People got jumped everyday around this city in the 80's. You couldn't even walk through most neighborhoods. Black or White neighborhoods. I went to a high school where someone got jumped everyday after school. Ever damn day.
