After failing to win an endorsement from the Republican State Committee, City Councilman Frank Rizzo says he will not be leaving his gig to run for lieutenant governor.

“Without an endorsement it would not make sense for me to leave my position in City Council,” Rizzo told us today. “I’ll continue to do a job that I love.”

Rizzo has toyed with the idea of running for several months. The city’s resign to run rule meant that he would have had to quit his job to circulate nominating petitions.

The state committee endorsed Bucks County Commissioner Jim Crawley for lieutenant governor on Saturday and state Attorney General Tom Corbett for governor.

Frank should reconsider. It's not going to be easy running for council as past. The party is in turmoil. And Catherine, who prompted your artice on Nutter getting re-elected on his snow job. Someone had to prompt you, and I think Cohen is in the mix. Do tell.

Please name one substantive thing he's done in the last 12 years. How about in the last 1-2 years? He was clearly hallucinating to think he had a chance at Lt. Guv. It's actually likely he knew he never had a shot, but enjoyed seeing his name associated with the office. As even he probably knows, it takes a lot more than an delusional ego and a famous name to be elected outside of Philadelphia.
