Q-Poll: Obama leading Romney in PA, FL and OH

POSTED: Wednesday, June 27, 2012, 7:49 AM

A new Quinnipiac University Poll of swing states in the 2012 presidential election shows President Obama leading his Republican challenger, former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney, in the key states of Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida.  But Obama still fails to get over 50 percent of the support in those three states.

The poll found Obama up on Romney 45-39 percent in Pennsylvania, 47-38 percent in Ohio and 45-41 percent in Florida.  Obama fell by two points in Pennsylvania, compared to a May 3 Quinnipiac Poll but gained ground in Florida in Ohio. The May poll had those states too close to call.

Obama has held a consistent lead in Pennsylvania.  But that doesn't mean voters here are thrilled with his first term in the White House.  His job approval rating is still in the negative, 45–49 percent. And 45 percent of voters say Obama deserves reelection while 47 percent say he does not.

“President Barack Obama has decent margins over Gov. Mitt Romney in Ohio and Pennsylvania and a smaller advantage in Florida. If he can keep those leads in all three of these key swing states through election day he would be virtually assured of re-election,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

The Associated Press reported this morning that Obama will launch a two-day campaign bus tour next week through Pennsylvania and Ohio.

He'll still be leading the polls after he is defeated in the forthcoming landslide.

I fail to see what Obama has done since he became president. I guess I am just confused?

PA doesn't surprise me and FL is very close but OH is a bit of a surprise. There's still plenty of time as people haven't really started to think about the election. Obama will be tough to beat because he plays dirty by playing on people's fears and prejudices and divides people using these tactics. But Obama is definitely beatable. If Romney can get FL, OH and VA, he's got a great chance. I've already conceded PA to Obama due to the Philly Occupier/Hoodie vote.

I love how people say that Obama hasn't done anything. Do you people actually research or are you waiting for someone to tell you what to think?

No surprise....union areas, unaware old folks and those on the government dole......Typical of sheep and ostriches......they swallow the koolade, bury their heads in the sand to the real issues and walk in step with those giving things away with regard as to where it is coming from....they seem to forget, the government has nothing unless they take it from us......and no matter how they cut it.....You cant spend more than you make and expect debt to go away......Dumb is a better word for it....and it does not matter whether it was done by a democrat or a republican.....after 50 years of spending the debt is life crushing and it has to stop.....Hello......Wake up and smell the coffee.......at this point it does not matter who did it....quit pointing fingers and realize we are in big trouble and anyone (both parties) who does not acknowledge that and promises more is just lying to us......

Democrats want to cut the deficit. Republicans won't touch sacred cows like defense or that cuts for the uber-rich. Democrats even acknowledge that healthcare and social security need to be reformed. Only one party is selling you a bill of goods here.

P.S. what's with all the ellipses? Who do you think you are... Ernest Hemmingway?

Really? "Democrats want to cut the budget" Last time I checked, Obama represents the single largest increase to the national deficit in history. Yes, Bush was an idiot, but Obama is criminal and 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Democrats want to cut the "deficit," I said.

Just for fun I googled exactly what you said. Far be it from a right-winger to fact check something they say, but I digress.

The largest increase was FDR. No surprise there, what with a depression and a war going on. According to this graph, though, Bushie's increase was about ten percent higher than Obama, even though bush deferred payment on his wars and dumped a huge bail-out in Obama's lap.

Enlighten us, me. Facts: Real state dropped 25%, job did not increase(decrease if anything), we still borrowing money, private sector is about the same if not worse, and now Obama pinched that agenda for immigration in order to increase his chances.
I guess you can always blame Bush but at some point you got to do something productive and Obamacare was not it. Please do not start with stimulus packages. Bush was about to do it anyway.

Obama spent more money in 4yrs than Bush did in 8 and had to start war and had Katrina on his hands.

Bush didn't have to "start a war" in Iraq that was unfunded, along with the unfunded tax cuts and Medicare Rx program.

If you want to blame Obama for continuing those policies as revenue dropped, then fine. But Romney has promised trillion dollar deficits will continue as well as increased military spending and more unfunded tax cuts.

Pal, when 3000 Americans are dead and the world is watching you have to do something. I bet you felt a lot different over 10 years ago then you do now. Bush did the right thing imho.

By the way I am NOT blaming Obama! I am asking what was done in the last 3-4 years and how did Americans benefit? In the end, sounds like all Obama did were a lot of talk and finger pointing.

Question: Is this a successful economic record for a president?
    year 1: 7.6% Unemployment year 2: 9.7% unemployment
    year 3: 9.6% unemployment year 4: 7.5% unemployment
I give you Ronald Reagan's first term.
By the way, unemployment does not get under 6% until the last year of his 2nd term. The highest unemployment experienced under the supposed worst president (Jimmy Carter): 7.1% in 1980. Amazing how these ditto heads just make statements with no facts behind them. Ronald Reagan has the worst two consecutive years of unemployment for ANY president since they have been keeping the stat.

Uh Huh! Now..........go back and poll "Likely Voters who are registered to vote" You will find a different outcome. Also....many polling companies oversample certain groups ( i.e...blacks, or women, or certain age groups)...to elicit a desired outcome in an effort to dispirit the opposition. Only the truly ignormant who want to be thralls to an Orwellian state would vote for Obama where your liberty and Constitutional rights are being stripped away. Obama is supreme in his arrogance, and his actions as president have damaged the nation so badly, it well may take 50 years of competent, prudent governance to fix the damage he has done.
