Q-Poll: Obama leading Romney in PA, FL and OH

POSTED: Wednesday, June 27, 2012, 7:49 AM

A new Quinnipiac University Poll of swing states in the 2012 presidential election shows President Obama leading his Republican challenger, former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney, in the key states of Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida.  But Obama still fails to get over 50 percent of the support in those three states.

The poll found Obama up on Romney 45-39 percent in Pennsylvania, 47-38 percent in Ohio and 45-41 percent in Florida.  Obama fell by two points in Pennsylvania, compared to a May 3 Quinnipiac Poll but gained ground in Florida in Ohio. The May poll had those states too close to call.

Obama has held a consistent lead in Pennsylvania.  But that doesn't mean voters here are thrilled with his first term in the White House.  His job approval rating is still in the negative, 45–49 percent. And 45 percent of voters say Obama deserves reelection while 47 percent say he does not.

“President Barack Obama has decent margins over Gov. Mitt Romney in Ohio and Pennsylvania and a smaller advantage in Florida. If he can keep those leads in all three of these key swing states through election day he would be virtually assured of re-election,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

The Associated Press reported this morning that Obama will launch a two-day campaign bus tour next week through Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Liberals here just spin spin spin everything in order to make themselves appear right. The so-called newspapers do it too. Why do you think the Inquirer is moving to another building? Because no one wants to read their OPINIONs; they want the news. There are NOT enough libs in the State of PA to keep this paper alive.

@joegrink: The 'mess' that Bush left was largly due to his unwillingness to block the wild spending of Congress, esp. that of Democrats (althought both Dems and Reps must take blame for that one. Also...most of the housing crisis, the root cause of our current problems goes back to Carter and Clinton's Adm...with Barney Frank and Chris Dodd's desire to provide mortgages and houses like candy, with little or no qualifications...and such poor judgment caused the bottom to drop out. The picture is muddled for you (and others) because most Dem. papers and news do not reveal the true history and origins of our current economic crisis.

Did they poll all those poor, disenfranchised minorities who won't be able to vote due to the new ID law?

How can you say that when republicans sit by and watch when our country deals with an economic crisis they caused themselves. No jobs. No healthcare reform. Just more legislation limiting women's rights.

Maybe because greedy republicans have been bleeding the life out of the middle class for the last thirty years and poor people have disproportionately felt the sting. Look around your " nice neighborhoods" with their bought sold and scammed mortgages and look for those "good jobs" being done by underpaid Chinese and Indian workers. I think you're a little out of touch. We all pay for republican greed.

citizenc92 - Good buzzwords. I'm sure Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck all used the same buzz words. They are proud of your parrotting.

I did a study and Obama has done more in his first term than both Bush, father and son put together, so how can he be the worst President? You are so racist, your right the truth will set you free, your racist in the worst way.
