Santorum

A Quinnipiac University Poll released this morning shows former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum leading the GOP presidential primary field in his former home state of Pennsylvania and in a statistical tie with President Obama if they meet in the November general election.

Thirty-six percent of the registered Republicans polled in Pennsylvania support Santorum in the primary while former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney took 22 percent, U.S. Rep. Ron Paul took 12 percent and former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich (who was born in Harrisburg) took 8 percent.  Eighteen percent of those polled -- a strong third place -- said they don't know who they will vote for in the primary.

If the Republican primary was a two-man race, Santorum would lead Romney in Pennsylvania 52-32 percent.

In head-to-head match-up with Obama in November, the Republicans polled had the president ahead 45-44 percent on Santorum, a statistical tie.  Obama leads Romney 46-40 percent, leads Paul by 45-40 and leads Gingrich 50-37 percent.

"Pennsylvania Republicans are turning to their native son, former Sen. Rick Santorum. The last time we surveyed the Keystone State, during the Gingrich boomlet in December, the former House Speaker led the GOP pack with 31 percent, followed by Gov. Mitt Romney with 17 percent and Santorum with 9 percent," Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, said in a news release put out with the poll.

Don't PA residents remember why we voted this guy out of office six years ago. I don't like Obama either, but this guy is insane.

We shouldn't forget that Santorum represented PA fairly well when he was in the Senate and brought the bacon home when needed. He also did a lot in the areas of education (even though he "home schooled" his children) and in the areas of welfare reform- which really needed reforming. The issue for me is if I can get past his 18th century views on morality, which will, sadly/gladly (take your pick) be his Achilles heel.

He is the Hillary Clinto of this primary season. Hillary exited the primary race on June 7, 2008. Santorum will do the same- at about the same time. He is not getting the nod.

Santorum is a crook and a liar. After he got out of office he committed offenses that he now accuses his opponents of committing. Check out how he obtained all his wealth after he was out of office; the guy is a CROOK. Also, he is a chronic liar. When he is not winning, he is a whiner. Enough said.

You can't afford Obama? You must be one of the 1%ers.

I helped vote him out in 2006, and I voted for Obama in 2008. Then I grew up. Voted straight Republican in 2010, and I am looking forward to voting for our hometown boy, Rick Santorum, for President come this November!

These last 4 years of my life have been the absolute worst from a fiscal and from a social perspective. Time to reel in liberal policies that encourage government dependence and tyranny, and get the country back in shape. GO RICK!

Cool. And if your boy Santorum should win, let's see how much you'll enjoy having Roman Catholic bishops with offices in the West Wing to guide and advise President Santorum on his policies.

I'd love it if republicans made the Ayatollah Santorum their nominee. Keep up the good work.
