Reacting to the latest "flash mob" gathering on South Street over the weekend, Mayor Nutter today said he wanted parents to keep watch over their kids.

Reacting to the latest "flash mob" gathering on South Street over the weekend, Mayor Nutter today said he wanted parents to keep watch over their kids.
"Parents have an obligation to know what their children are doing and where they are," Nutter said. "It's one thing [for kids] to get together. It's another thing to cause disturbances."
Nutter said the administration would soon reveal new plans to deal with the flash mob problem. Hoardes of kids descended on South Street Saturday, fighting, jumping on cars and knocking down pedestrians.
"We'll be announcing something shortly, in terms of future steps to be taken," Nutter said. He would not specify when the anouncement was coming.

Driving a bus, fixing bikes, and a steward for the Knights of Columbus.When I went into 7th grade my mother got a job as a waitress. - I just read the story about the poor woman who was beat up in the park. One thing was missing in that story about the description of the attackers; their race. I imagine they were black, because with the victim being black, if the kids were white, there would be an all points bulletin, with the NAACP involved and probably a national story. I still think it's related to the Grape Soda Tax hike...and btw, the Cambodians, Koreans, and other Asians have had life handed to them on a silver platter too, right? If blacks want a successful sociological model to emulate, don't try to be white (obviously we have it too easy), work as hard as those people do. I wish whites, blacks and Hispanics worked as hard as Asians. Authorities need to get their heads out of their butts and treat these creeps the proper way. They are criminals. Doesn't matter the age. They chase away people who spend money. - African American culture is dieing in this city. It's in its dieing throes now and you can see it. Look at the old leaders of the Civil Rights movement, where are their successors now? Who will pick up the standard once this older generation is gone? And what have they to replace this? What have they got to replace their old traditions, virtues, morals, their pride? Reckless, senseless violence. A generation has come with no virtues, no standards, no fear of God nor man and no respect for others or themselves. Their culture is dieing, you can see it in the faces of the young mothers and their children who will never understand their own value as human beings, only to have their worth squandered by a degenerate void of humanity. Where is the will to change this? Where are the leaders to step above the masses and exclaim that this is not all that need be written for us? - If flash mob showing up, let's gather everybody in the block and do the flash-action againts them. If some kids in the mob hurt, then it's self-defense. And hopefully NAABP ( formally NAACP) keeps quiet.— SouthPhillyMan
