Nutter heading to DC Tomorrow

Mayor Nutter is heading to Washington DC tomorrow, where he has a full schedule of meetings with President Obama and other top Democrats, as well as several speaking engagements.

According to spokesman Doug Oliver, Nutter is supposed to meet with Obama at the White House, talk with Senate Democrats and have a sit down with the Secretary of Education.

A likely topic during those meetings with Obama and other senior officials will be federal support for cities during the current economic crisis -- a topic Nutter has been beating the drum on for over a year as Philadelphia has lost tax revenues and made severe budget cuts.

Nutter will also speak at several events, including one held by the Mayors Innovation Project, where he will be on a panel "Creating Change in Crisis: How are Mayors using the fiscal crisis as an opportunity to enact new approaches to service delivery while balancing the budget?"
