Mayor Nutter tonight said police had zeroed in on a "person of interest" in the Kensington Strangler case and asked that man to turn himself in.
"We need to catch this person and get him off the streets now," Nutter said. "We know who you are and we're looking you. It's not if, it's when."
Nutter praised the police department for this breakthrough in the case. The person police are seeking is a DNA match for the strangler.
"This is primarily a case of good old-fashioned police work," he said. "The Philadelphia police department and all of us have never rested on this case."
A press conference is scheduled for 6 p.m. to detail the latest police break in this case. For more details head over the Philly Confidential blog.
