Nutter On How Council May React to Budget

Mayor Nutter's budget plan is already shaping up to be a tough sell with City Council. This morning Nutter was asked if he expected there to be any political grandstanding from council members after he announces the plan. Here's his -- tounge-in-cheek -- reply:

Mayor Nutter's budget plan is already shaping up to be a tough sell with City Council. This morning Nutter was asked if he expected there to be any political grandstanding from council members after he announces the plan. Here's his -- tounge-in-cheek -- reply:

"I just cannot imagine any responsible public official in a time of great challenge and crisis, that anyone would use these moments where Philadelphians are in pain, Philadelphians want service, Philadelphians deserve high quality representation. I cannot imagine, I would be astounded, I would be stunned, I would be just perplexed that anyone would use this moment of great challenge to use it as a moment of political opportunity."
