So we have a bit of a dust-up about a couple of guys up at 12th and Fairmount standing outside a polling place. Wearing clothes with the emblem of the New Black Panther Party. And holding a night stick.
Fox News and Michelle Malkin jumped all over it. Media Lizzy has a video here of a young man who identifies himself as a "media person" and poll watcher from the University of Pennsylvania walking up to the guy with the nightstick and asking questions. The guy with the stick claims to be "security" and asks why people are taking his picture.
And then we get this: "I think it might be a little bit intimidating for you to have a stick in your hand," Media Guy says. "Who are you to decide?" Black Panther Guy asks. "I'm a concerned citizen," Media Guy continues. "And so are we. That's why we're here," Black Panther Guy responds.

In the past, there was support for your personal party affiliation and whomever won, the country, state or city would rally in unison as one great nation (until the next election). I am hoping for someone to come along in the next 4 years to help close that divide and unify America. If Obama wins lets all hope his socialist rhetoric is just to win votes because free healthcare for everyone and redistribution of wealth dont work, we have seen that time and time again in many countries throughout history. Increasing taxes for the top 20% of earners who already pay a majority of the taxes and a big government giving handouts is not the American way. I am not in that higher tax bracket but aspire to be in the future. Taking more and more from those who create jobs and bust their as$es to be the best also takes away the motivation to work hard and be as successful as they can be. We are in a global economy and that will lead to many of these people finding other countries where they can actually reap the rewards of their talent and hard work.

atnotnhy, not saying that won't happen, but like the general news you cannot label blacks by the actions of the minority. It is common sense whites have to vote at least 50% for Obama to win the election. It is also a fact that most blacks (including myself) didn't think he had a chance until he won Iowa (which is 90% caucasion). I am very fair and don't judge. I have white friends that will vote for McCain, and I don't see it being a racial thing, they just believe he will better protect the country. We are a collective society made of individuals. I even know black people that support McCain.
Of course when Michael Nutter was asked about this incident he said the BP had every right to be there. Gotta love when a mayor endorses breaking the law.

If you check the FBI website however you will see that blacks are dispoportionately the victims of hate crimes; still if anyone is to complain about hate crimes it ought to be the Latino community. At least blacks know how to bring the dark side of racism to light in the 21st century, but latinos are many times victims of hate crimes and they don't even report it. Get your photo taken while voting, risk hanging from in a tree in teh country where all men are created equal. He had no clue of this. They're also not allowed at the polling place, sort of like night sticks. So, basically, Philly gets on the map because two idiots have a face off of blissful ignorance. Brilliant. happy: Rev Wright may be a sound bite to the sleepy public, but he was in Obama's ear for 20 years. If I disagreed with someone, I would hardly stay in their company for 20 years. Also, if Cindy McCain stated that she has never been proud of her country until recently she would have been put away until after the election. I'm not in love with McCain, but he did spend 5 1/2 years in a north vietnamese prison camp and chose not be released until men who were there longer than he had been released. That is a sign of good character, not to mention heroism. In an age when the word "hero" is given to people for minor acts, McCain is an American hero. Hard to find in this generation of me-first, whining, poor-me, "i'm a victim" mentality.

Whassup67 - can you explain how anyone can be a Democrat or a Republican when they were not permitted by their community to vote? Southern Democrats were one thing, southern black folk were something less. Luckily that has changed, but a lot of people have a lot of learning to do - both Black Panther idiot and Media Guy idiot.
