Member of Mayor's security detail in car accident

POSTED: Tuesday, October 23, 2012, 11:05 AM

A police officer assigned to the mayor’s security detail was in a car accident this morning on Martin Luther King Drive.

According to a statement from the mayor's press office, the accident happened at about 7:30 a.m., as the officer -- whose name has not been released -- was on route to collect Nutter at home. The city vehicle he was driving was struck by a civilian car.

NBC 10 reports that the officer was transported to the hospital with cuts and bruises. He is listed in stable condition. The driver of the other car was also sent to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the city.

Fox 29 reports that the accident near Montgomery Drive and MLK Drive, shut down traffic for about an hour for an investigation.

Could there be any less details? The reporting around here gets worse and worse each day. First day of college they teach you Who, What, When, Where, How and Why, put that to use Inky writers.

Yea, but we are dealing with The Mayor's office and police in an accident. They have to cover-up and massage the facts and the details about what actually happened first. Then once they have concocted them, they will release the "truth" abouts what happened.

I wish someone would come pick me up at 7:30 in the morning. The Mayor must not make it to work until 9 or so.

Nutter will have to borrow Lance Armstrong's bike to get to work.

Are we certain he wasn't coming from just dropping Hizzoner off at home after a night out at the all-night bowling alley?

The police will investigate the accident. I imagine the other driver will receive 20 years to life. Bye the bye, I thought Nutter was going to travel in his POV SUV without using a city car. Now, his city owned vehicle makes two rounds trips to his house, one to the secrurity man's and one to the driver's house. Couldn't they all meet at a dinner somewhere and then car pool?
