Latest From Seventy, Action in Election Court

POSTED: Tuesday, May 18, 2010, 7:20 PM

Here's the latest Seventy report:

With just an hour left for voting, the biggest action is happening in Election Court. Representatives for Jonathan Ramos, who is challenging incumbent Angel Cruz in the 180th state Representative District, are seeking an injunction for certain divisions in the 7th ward. They allege that Cruz campaign has volunteers have been going inside polling places, assisting voters improperly, blocking entrances and using profanity. They say that election officials at the various polling places where they have lodged complaints have taken no corrective action. As of 6:55 p.m., the Election Court judge was still hearing testimony from witnesses.
