Councilman Goode's Aide Calls Fox29 "Racist"
Councilman W. Wilson Goode and an aide clash with Fox29.

City Councilman W. Wilson Goode Jr. came to work today with an attention-grabbing piece of legislation that could change the way some of his colleagues get elected.  But he quickly was overshadowed in Council's chambers by his chief legislative aide, Latrice Bryant, who held up a series of handmade signs that said "Fox29 in racist" and "K.K.K."

Fox29 reporter Jeff Cole has been following Goode and Bryant, filming their comings and goings.  And Bryant is not at all happy about it.   Cole confronted Goode after Council's session wrapped up, asking if he thought Fox29's reporting was racist.  Goode didn't break stride as reporters rushed after him.

Cole's questions involved videotape he says Fox29 has of Bryant, while listed as working in City Hall:  a) working out in the gym and b) walking with Goode into his house with a case of beer and c)  leaving Goode's house looking as if she had spent the night there.

Goode responded that a) his employees had not been filling out their work time sheets daily, which led to mistakes that have been corrected and b) who he goes to his house with is his business and c) Cole's question was disrespectful.

Bryant, who is paid $90,000 a year, has been a city employee since 1993, except for a span in 2004 when she stepped down to run unsuccessfully for the state legislature.

Goode told PhillyClout he is not worried that this Fox29 report will affect his legislation, which would allow voters to cast ballots for six of the seven at-large council members, instead of five as the City Charter currently allows.  That could effectively eliminate one of the two at-large seats set aside for minority political party candidates [Republicans] as mandated by the Charter.

LOL..What else is new...When someone doesn't get away with being a slime ball they cry racism...criminals do it all the time--get a beatdown by a cop--racism---about to lose an election because he's and empty suit--racism---start a riot--racism---get bugged by the feds because you are as legit as a game on three hand monty--racism!

Nice job FOX29. Keep up the good work. At least SOMEBODY is looking out for the taxpayers...because it certainly isn't city council members.

tell me - what is racist about the report...how is the KKK involved...poeple who throw those words around - dilute the importance of it - for those who are truly hurt...false racism accusations only hurt true victims. there should be an outcry from the black community about this.

Good job Fox 29. At least there are some journalists who are busting shoe leather to show what people are really up to, even if they try to play the PC card. You know Council is wasting money, and it's up to the journalists to find out how, and no, the pols are not going to be all buddy-buddy with the press about it. The Ink is too buddy-buddy with Council, and look at how much they uncover.

I'm black, and I think this is DISGRACEFUL. This "girl" is pathetic, along with the ex-con that Nutter hired for $80k a year; and Ramsey telling people on the subway they're supposed to act as cops; and the entire John Street Administration. I'm not a Democrat and would actually consider voting Republican, but the racist comments that are constantly posted on here will never allow me to vote for a Republican. Way to go Republicans. What to you hope to accomplish? Unfortunately for McCain (who's a good man by the way) he's got u neanderthal's speaking on behalf of Republicans. No wonder he's almost embarassed to admit that he's a Republican whenever he speaks. Dems are failing, and u Republicans have a chance to capitalize in the city, but instead u wanna be racist. Way to go!!

Didn't Wilson used to be mayor? Or is this some other guy with his name? Run for mayor? There another neighborhood that needs burning down? What next? Frank Rizzo? Good grief. Can't these people keep their hands off other women?

Does Mr Goode think that it's not OK to disrespect a black woman but it is OK to disrespect a white woman. If both people involved were white, aisan, or latino I am sure that the parties would be asked to resign. And what's with the child like behavior from a city employee getting $90K per year? Thanks 29 for letting the public know what goes on.

Wow have you seen her my space pictures how old is this chick too old to play dress up cop and nurse outfits, I bet Wilson took the pictures. Her braids are terrible too that 90K should go to some style repairs. The WHOLE office should be FIRED.

Great job Jeff Cole and Fox29, keep at it these two. So this is how our good city taxes are being used? to pay salary to Goode & Bryant while they spend time in his home with a case of beer doing lord knows what. I am sorely dissappointed in Nutter, even though it is a different division of the local government, I thought he claimed to stamp out corruption, where are the calls for Goode to review the video tapes? Keep exposing these 2 corrupt officials Fox.

I keep reading that Ms Bryant is educated. Must have been in Philly public schools. Her signs were grammatically incorrect. Personally, if I was accused of something that was not true, I would sit down with the accusers and explain what was really happening instead of what she did. The best defense is a good offense. This whole thing reminds of the Tap Dancing scene from the show "Chicago".
