Chris Matthews' Boss Doesn't Think He's Running

Check out this interview Broadcasting and Cable did with NBC New boss Steve Capus. (Hat tip to TVNewser where we first saw this.)

Capus says he doesn't think Hardball host Chris Matthews is running for office. Matthews is rumored to be considering a bid for Arlen Specter's senate seat in 2010. Here's the key part of the Capus interview:

Q: Right, (shoe tossing Iraqi journalist) Mr. Zaidi could take over for Chris when Chris goes off to run for office.
Capus: [Chris Matthews] is not running for office.

Q: He's not?

Capus: I don't think so. Well, look, if he were running for office, he wouldn't be on TV.

The entire interview is here.
