And The Winners Are...Williams and Butkovitz
Catherine Lucey
It's official.
At 9:30 p.m. PhillyClout is calling the District Attorney and Controller Races for Democrats Seth Williams and Alan Butkovitz.
With 63 percent of precincts reporting, Williams had 72 percent of the vote, compared with 28 percent for his Republican opponent Michael Untermeyer. Williams, a former city inspector general, will replace longtime DA Lynne Abraham, who steps down at the end of this year.
Incumbent Butkovitz had 69 percent of the vote, compared with 31 for his GOP challenger Al Schmidt.

- congrats on screwing up the controller's race, Philadelphia, we couldn't have expected any semblance of free thought. dpcoz
Philadelphia: City of sado-masochists. hotelguy
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.... Philly has 50+ years of single party Democrat rule - how's that working out for ya? fafafooey
Looks like voting drones of Philly were drinking kool-aid by the glass-full today. I have less hope that things will ever get better as the corrupt democrats retain control. Schmidt was clearly the better candidate for comptroller and he couldn't muster more than 30%--what a joke! camtheman
The city even had a good democrat running when Brett Mandel was in the primary, but Butkovitz is backwards just like Nutter is too now. Let them do whatever they want, I plan to be gone by the time this place really starts to burn. In the mean time, we can watch the Eagles and the Phils and enjoy the tax free shopping on clothes. mktstrfinancial
We are so screwed; really, really screwed. Thanks Dirty News, for screwing the pooch. anon

Schmidt, the clearly superior candidate, made it over 30% of the vote. For Philadelphia, that's quite an improvement. Sorry to say, Philly, but you get the failure and mediocrity for which you constantly vote. PennGuy86
