After Election Day mess, City Controller to conduct audit

Two weeks after more than 27,000 voters were required to cast provisional ballots on Election Day, City Controller Alan Butkovitz announced he wants to conduct an audit of this year’s election process.

“The audit is intended to clarify the numerous potential problems that have been reported with the provisional ballots,” Butkovitz said in a statement.  “It’s also an opportunity to provide recommendations that can become essential tools for future elections.”

Spokesman for the Controller, Harvey Rice said the Home Rule Charter doesn’t just allow for financial audits, but performance based audits as well and that the City Commissioner’s Office is a city agency.
