Dell East Update: Summer Concerts May Go On Or Move

City Council's Recreation Committee this afternoon learned that the summer concert series at the Robin Hood Dell East in Fairmount Park may go on or be moved but will not be canceled.

The concert venue needs extensive repairs. An engineering report due to be completed in three weeks will show whether it's safe to have the concerts and start work later. If not, Mayor Nutter's administration vowed to find the money to move the concerts to a temporary venue.

That's a big change from last week, when the mayor's budget staff surprised some in Council by announcing the need to shutter the Dell this summer to make repairs.
