The Gov to The Boss: Play AC!

UPDATE: Based on Christie's comments about Springsteen yesterday, I took a look at the Gov versus the Boss, and "Wrecking Ball" versus "The New Jersey Comeback." Check out the story in today's paper, here.
The conservative Jersey governor made a "direct plea" today to the liberal Jersey rocker: Play the new Revel casino in Atlantic City on Labor Day weekend!
The plea, which Christie has now repeated several times on Twitter ("hey @bwilliams lets get @springsteen to perform @revelresorts Labor Day Wekend #MeetMeInAC"), came today when I asked Christie about his thoughts on Bruce Springsteen's new "Wrecking Ball" album.
The album derides "robber barons" and a pervasive lack of hope for the predicament the working class now finds itself in. And it seems to be a rebuke of the very brand of fiscal conservatism that Christie espouses. Opponents of the Rutgers-Camden merger are even using one of the new songs on the album to support their campaign to block Christie from combining their institution with Rowan University. (Check out their video, here).
Christie acknowledges that he and Springsteen have their political differences. But speaking outside the soon-to-open casino, Christie said he believes Springsteen would be pleased to learn about the "New Jersey comeback," and how he has created jobs, for example, by restarting the stalled Revel project.
And then he used the moment to make a marketing pitch that has now reverberated through the Internet: Springsteen should play Revel. It "would be an incredible show of support by Bruce for his home state...for those working men and women who have been put back to work."
On Thursday, Christie will be at the Wells Fargo Center for his 127th (!!!) Springsteen show. Maybe if Springsteen sings his classic, "Atlantic City," that'll mean that yes, he accepts the gov's offer. And he will play Revel.
Nobody needs to see any one artist 127 times. I don't care who it is. Agree with avoidsundance, Bruce could probably do without Christie. PhillySubsMac
Waste of time. Bruce probably hates that Christie likes him. AvoidSundanceVacations
If the governor is for working folk, he should leave Rutgers Camden intact, for he is putting at risk an institution that shines at educating first generation college students. Cindy Clark

Hey Christie - go find a GOP conservative band to shill for you, O Bloated One. That pretty much leaves the Osmond Brothers and Toby Keith. enabler1

bingbangbong - I agree with you. gb- ha ha ha ha ha. the Boss would never do it. NOT EVER! I think the Boss should hold a concert in Asbury Park, NJ with the proceeds going to NJ Public Schools - earmarked directly for arts and music programs that Christie has cut.
