Mitt who? Sandy brings Chris & Barack together

Who could have possibly seen this coming? Gov. Christie has been one of Mitt Romney's most significant supporters, fundraisers and surrogates. He gave the keynote speech at Romney's convention; he has described President Obama as a man lacking the leadership ability to find his way around the Oval Office. And yet now, here they are, Christie and Obama, BFF. Tomorrow, in what will undoubtedly be the news story of the day, Obama and Christie are touring Sandy-ravaged New Jersey together, according to a statement released moments ago from the White House. Yesterday, they spoke three times on the phone, and Christie was given a special number to reach him at the White House. At midnight, the prez called the gov, waking him up. "Which is fine," Christie said. "He gets too." And since the storm began, Christie has repeatedly lavished unsolicited praise on Obama -- at press conferences, on Twitter and on cable TV (FOX News!). The president has been "wonderful." Obama's FEMA -- the same FEMA that embarrassed President George W. Bush during Katrina -- has been "excellent." And so has Obama's..."leadership." Did Sandy wipe away the partisan rancor that has defined the 2012 campaign? Or did Sandy relocate me to Oz?

Mitt who? Sandy brings Chris & Barack together

POSTED: Tuesday, October 30, 2012, 4:02 PM
President Obama is joined by Gov. Christie in crossing the Temple Street Bridge in Paterson last year in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.

"He gets too."

And since the storm began, Christie has repeatedly lavished unsolicited praise on Obama -- at press conferences, on Twitter and on cable TV (FOX News!).

The president has been "wonderful." Obama's FEMA -- the same FEMA that embarrassed President George W. Bush during Katrina -- has been "excellent." And so has Obama's..."leadership."

Did Sandy wipe away the partisan rancor that has defined the 2012 campaign? Or did Sandy relocate me to Oz?

This is not the first time Christie has praised Obama. The two toured New Jersey after Hurricane Irene, comforting residents and joking with each other about the challenges of raising teenage girls. And certainly, Christie needs Obama's federal money to rebuild New Jersey.

But, still: This is six days before a presidential election. Will this help Obama? It certainly can't help Romney.

“I don’t give a damn about Election Day; it doesn’t matter a lick to me at the moment," Christie said this morning. "I’ve got much bigger fish to fry, as do the people of New Jersey.”

It's a shame that this is news, but it definitely is news because of the political climate these days. This is the way it should be...and, while I hope it ultimately helps the president get reelected, I am most hopeful that it helps both parties realize that it is more effective to work together in the long run for the good of the country rather than for their own agendas.

Maybe I'm cynical (OK, strike the "maybe") but Christie is doing exactly what he needs to do to run for president in 2016. The best thing that can happen for Christie's political ambition is for Mitt Romney to lose, freeing up the 2016 Republican GOP nomination. So while Christie is amassing IOUs from the Republican faithful by campaigning across the nation, he gets to look presidential by working with Obama and providing real leadership for the first time in his governorship.

Like him or hate him, Christie is something else. He waddles to his own drummer.

What Christie is doing is what is needed for his state, rather than playing politics. Obama is doing what a president should do. This is NOT a political situation. There are people whose lives have been devastated and all Philly.com can do is turn this into a political ad for Obama...PATHETIC!

sharkmeat...All the article does is talk about them being "Bff's"...like Christie is now an Obama supporter. Grow up? You were the one who immediately said that Republicans won't work together. Pathetic!

It looks like Christine wouldn't know what "energetic" or "vigorous" or "sustained" would be unless those three words kicked him in the "A-double-hockey-sticks."

"It's a shame that this is news, but it definitely is news because of the political climate these days. ..."

No dgabs, you initial instincts were correct. This is not news. Except to the "reporter" who wrote this slanted article. Welcome to Weimar America.

Strange, Christine bullies a Seaside Heights summer visitor while she, the governor, is inhaling a giant melty/drippy ice cream cone and guarded by "staties" and yesterday that very same resort area pier was wiped out with all the ice cream and amusements. Thanks, Chris Christie.

The sad part was the "staties" were trying to calm the governor down and limit New Jersey's embarrassment by his conduct.

Enough criticism regarding Governor Christie's physique; the man has shown his mettle by being on top of this terrible situation and is working tirelessly to help the people of New Jersey. In addition, he is man enough to graciously accept the aid and cooperation offered by the President of the United States of America.

Last time I checked, that was his job to oversee the welfare of New Jerseyans. The only mettle he's got is in his belt buckle and that ain't lookin too good. Man enough to accept aid and cooperation...that's his job to accept the help of the United States government, you know from the guy who said "you didn't build it." Shove it, evil Republicans. Your tactics and motives are as dark as your souls. Hey, Jersey, Mitt Romney's campaign staff is having a bake sale to benefit New Jersey disaster relief. He'll employ that tactic when he's dog-catcher and chief. You Romney/Ryan/Bush/Cheyney/Rove/Adelson/Coca Cola's are all losers but the real losers will be the citizens of the United States when Scit Romney a taste of political leadership.

Mitt Romney wants to eliminate FEMA. He campaigned to eliminate it. Mitt Romeny's battle cry is "Canned Goods in A Crisis" It's sorta like the seventies when the Texans wanted the Yankees to Freeze in the Dark.

Simple explanation here, and all of you have missed it.

Christie's state needs MONEY. FEDERAL MONEY.

    And Obama has the checkbook.

Obummer shows up for photo opts for the hurricane but we still have not heard a response from him concerning what happened in Benghazi when we have reports that he watched the whole thing in live video and did nothing but went Las Vegas for a fun raiser. Too little too late Obummer, we'll have the finaal say on election and you don't deserve anyone's vote.
