Worlds collided in Woodbridge this morning, when none other than Jack McGreevey - the father of former Gov. Jim McGreevey, who famously resigned after saying he was a "gay American" - stood up and asked Gov. Christie a question.
At the end of Christie's question-and-answer period, Christie told the crowd that McGreevey's father was in the audience.
Then Jack, a gregarious former Marine, stood up and took the mic.
Referencing a comment made last week at a town hall, in which a female supporter called Christie "hot and sexy," McGreevey asked: "What was [Christie's wife] Mary Pat's reaction when you were called 'hot and sexy?' " Then he flashed Christie a thumbs up. Chrisite and the crowd laughed.
Christie said Mary Pat was at work when she read the news about the comment. She sent him a one-line email in response: "Now you will be completely insufferable." Christie then thanked Jack for his service "to our country, and our state."
"Hot and sexy?" Christie asked. "It shows anything in America is possible."
