Coulter: If Christie isn't our nominee, we're dead

Politico is reporting that conservative commentator/provocateur Anne Coulter believes that the only way President Obama can be defeated in 2012 is if Gov. Christie is the Republican nominee.

"If we don't run Chris Christie, Mitt Romney will be the nominee and we will lose," she said Saturday at the CPAC conference in Washington DC.

Christie, of course, has said over and over and over and over again that he's not ready or willing to run for president just yet. But that didn't stop six percent of the conservative attendees of the conference from picking Christie as their choice for the 2012 GOP nominee. The gov tied for third place in the informal straw poll, beating out those who are actually expected to run - like Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum.

    @slanted and enchanted... Our education did go down the hill. As the evidence please check out your spelling... "shear" means something different from what you had in mind ("sheer"). But that's besides the point. Look at it from another point of view. The per student cost of education has been going up steadily, but the quality of education is not. Fair person can attribute it to many factors - lousy teachers would be one of them, failed families could be another. I'm sure you can find some figures on the web. That doesn't mean that Christi is responsible for all of this. The man is just trying to do what's best for the state at this particular moment. At least he is trying, unlike his predecessors. Like it or not, states can no longer sustain spending like a drunken sailor in order to make public unions happy. And public employees have to realize that. They've been asked for a relatively small sacrifices, comparing to the rest of us. And yet they refuse, portraying Christie as a monster. Objectivity please. Just a bit.

    justin cohen - you have absoluetely no idea what you are talking about. you are buying into an unjust stereotype that is being fed to you by conservative politicians and talkers that are intenet on limiting the cost of schooling our kids. they are not in it to "better" the population, but to save a tax dollar and protect the interests of the haves of society. think about what you are actually saying here and the illogical nature of it. not one bit of it adds up. shear laughable silly talk on your part.

    @Player Here's a bit of education for you:
    It's a myth that our education system has gone downhill over the years. For example the US's middle of the pack PISA scores that were widely reported last week (the one's the Chinese scored so highly in) was held up as an indicator of how far we have fallen, but to fall we would have once had to been on top. A little digging shows that to nostalgic fantasy for example back in 1964, American 13-year-olds took the First International Math Study and ended up ranking in 11th place. Considering that only 12 nations participated our next-to-last performance was pretty abysmal.
    While there are plenty of problems in our education system, lets stop pretending everything is a downward spiral. The truth of our education system is probably more likely that it has gone from horrible to mediocre.

    @ Slanted and Enchanted: Here's a bit of education for you;
    The U.S. Departement of Education was created in 1976 by Jimmy Carter to pay back the teacher's unions for their endorsement.
    Prior to 1976, education in this country was just fine.
    After 1976, when the big government union controlled bureaucracy took over education - everything has gone downhill.

    Therfore, any venon directed toward teachers is valid because they are the ones who not concerned about educating our children. They are only concerned about perpetuating a bloated, innefective, inefficient federal department monopolozed by a bully union.

    Ann Coulter would have the same effect on Christie's run as Sarah Palin did in 2008. Epic fail.

    Governor Christie got up at 5:30 AM today and is still eating breakfast. He's got to finish soon, because it is almost lunch time and he has a 24-ounce steak waiting.

    If the fat boy can fix NJ, then I'd vote for him. So far: mixed bag.
    Vote for Dickie

    must be a slow day on the christie front. i'm sure he'll spew some mean spirited venom towards our teachers before the day lets out. not like they're doing anything good today like educating our youth....
