With the state Assembly's recent passage of a bill decriminalizing small amounts of marijuana, Gov. Christie was asked yesterday on Twitter by a Willie Nelson-inspired pro-pot political party if he ever smoked reefer.
He tweeted his response: The answer is no.
And no means no for you too, potheads. Christie said last week that he would veto the Assembly's pot legalization bill if it comes to his desk (which now appears unlikely, since the Senate is not planning on voting on the bill soon).
Regardless, Jersey-born Jon Stewart -- a stoner's stoner who appeared in the classic ode to bong hits, "Half-Baked" -- questioned Christie's rationale last night on "The Daily Show": "What's the deal with vetoing this Chris Christie? I thought you were cool, man!"
In a hilarious breakdown of Christie's rationale -- that a state law shouldn't be passed if it violates federal law -- Stewart used outtakes from Christie's comments about another issue, sports gambling. In that instance, Christie said he wants to challenge federal law with a New Jersey law legalizing sports gambling.
"I have an idea: Let's replace the phrase 'betting on NFL games' with the phrase, 'getting high.' Different how?" Stewart asked.
"Why don't you just think of using marijuana as betting you're going to have a better day?"
Does Christie understand how much it costs to enforce this law? WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY!!! When is Christie going to get that fact. We can't afford to waste tax payer's money on ineffective efforts. These laws have done nothing to stop the use of marijuana. Tobacco, alcohol and sugar are much worse for your health. Christie is for sport's betting. Isn't he aware that there are gambling addicts? The hypocracy is incredible with Republicans. MikeP- And yet your boy in the whitehouse can make this all go away all over the country. but he wont because he knows you will vote for him no matter what. He says during election season he will not make DEA raids on legal pot farms in California a priority, yet he raids more farms in his first 4 years then Bush did in eight, and yet there is silence from the hippie liberal left. I would be furious. At least Bush and Cristie are clear in their opposition. Obama claims to be "cool" with stoners while selling them out to his special interest groups. Go see how much law enforcement and pharm lobbys have donated to obama. towelie
MikeP, you're an idiot. Why don't you tell your buddy in the White House to drop the war on drugs. palmyra21
Big Fatty...that is awesome. I'm sure that was just a coincidence. one_eyed_jack
I've never smoked pot, and don't care about people smoking it. In fact, it gives a shot in the arm to the community because when they're high they spend money on food. Flyerne3981

Send Gov Rotondo a tray of donuts. He needs a sugar fix. bling

I would just like it once, if any politician who is against legalization could actually bring any kind of valid points to the argument besides "all illegal drugs are bad" like that clown from the DEA. Pot is healthier, and it has been scientifically proven many times over, than any legal drug. Yes, cigs, alcohol, rx drugs, OTC drugs. Safer than all. My kid starts college this year. I would rather hear him tell me he smokes weed than drinks. It's a joke that it is illegal. Want to know why it isn't legal? The private prison system makes money and the big time pharma companies making all those wonderful anti-depressants that may lead to suicide put money in the campaign funds of the clown politicians don't want the competition from a better drug. The only people making money off it are industries that put bribes - let's call them what they are - into the campaigns of politicians and the cartels and dealers who by the way don't pay taxes. How bout our govt and our collective mindset jumps out of 1950 and realizes there is about $20 billion dollars in revenue and savings to be had by legalizing. votelibertarian
Big fatty! Dats a good one.
