Still have your Christie/Guadagno bumper sticker? It'll be good for another year.
Christie's gubernatorial campaign announced today that the lieutenant governor, Kim Guadagno, will indeed run with Christie for re-election next year. The announcement comes less than a week after Christie seemed to hedge on that question.
Christie said in a statement: "After being able to sit down and speak with Kim, I am thrilled that she is going to be part of the team as we seek to serve the people of New Jersey for another four years. She has made the role of lieutenant governor a unique and invaluable one as the state's number one economic development advocate on behalf of our people, our homegrown talent and our resources. She is a trusted adviser and friend who I'm glad to have as my partner in both reelection and public service."
Guadagno, best known for silently flanking Christie at press conferences, has only sporadically made news. She is Christie's liaison to the business community and gives out her cell phone number to rooms of corporate execs. On a near daily basis, she criss-crosses the states visiting businesses. The message: New Jersey under the Christie administration is open for business.
Guadagno is the first lieutenant governor in New Jersey history. She would assume the governor's seat if Christie were to leave office early to, let's say, run for president of something.
