'Yappy Hour,' radio show to tout dog days

On Sunday, pet owners are invited to Doggie Yappy Hour, an event to benefit the Chester County SPCA; on Monday, a longtime pet aficionado will begin an hourlong radio show for animal-loving listeners.

On Sunday, pet owners are invited to Doggie Yappy Hour, an event to benefit the Chester County SPCA; on Monday, a longtime pet aficionado will begin an hourlong radio show for an animal-loving audience.

Weather permitting, the CCSPCA fund-raiser will be held on an outside deck at the Thorndale Inn, 430 Bondsville Rd., Thorndale, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Dogs, which must be on leashes, are invited to accompany their owners for drinks, Fifteen percent of the gross receipts will benefit the nonprofit agency. Treats and water will be available for canine companions.

The next day, Rich Britton, whose animal advocacy has included creating the  FOX Fursday animal adoption feature on FOX 29 and serving as a spokesperson for the CCSPCA. will debut "Passionate about Pets," an hourlong show on WCHE from 3 to 4 p.m.

Britton said the show will be a mix of interviews with groomers, vets, rescuers and more, discussions of pet-related topics, and listeners' feedback. He said people can tune to 1520, listen live at http://www.wche1520.com, or participate by calling 610-701-WCHE (9243).
