Responding to a family's concerns, state police have issued an alert for a missing 57-year-old West Bradford Township woman.

Police said Shirley Miller left her residence on Penns Ridge Place in Downingtown on foot of her own free will about 8:20 a.m. yesterday; however, relatives are worried about her emotional state, police said. They said they do not suspect foul play.

Troopers from the Embreeville barracks, assisted by the State Police Aviation Unit, Chester County Sheriff's K-9 unit, and the West Bradford and Po-Mar-Lin Fire Companies, searched the area around the residence without locating Miller.

Police are asking anyone who might have seen Miller, who is 5-foot-3 and 110 pounds with auburn hair and brown eyes, to contact police at 484-340-3241.
