Local winery re-takes top wine prize at Mushroom Festival

Kennett Square's own Galer Estate Vineyard and Winery took home the top prizes for red and white wine at this weekend's Mushroom Festival (also held in Kennett Square).

This is the second year in a row that the vineyard has won the honor, according to a press release sent out Monday. Attendees at the Mushroom Festival can vote on a variety of local wines at the festival's wine and soup tent; more than 1,000 people sipped at Cabernets and Merlots at this year's bash.

The winning wines were a 2011 Red Huntress Merlot blend and a 2012 Pinot Gris. You can taste them yourself at the Galer Estate Winery Tasting Room at 700 Folly Hill Road in Kennett Square.
