The 63rd Annual Chadds Ford Art Sale and Show will open this evening at 7 p.m. with a complimentary reception featuring hors d'oeuvres from local restaurants and live music. The reception offers attendees an opportunity to meet the artists, in addition to perusing and purchasing artwork.

The celebrated show was started in 1949 by Betsy Wyeth, wife of the late Andrew Wyeth, and she continued her involvement while her son, Jamie Wyeth, was a student at Chadds Ford Elementary. The sale continues to serve as the school's largest fund-raiser, and 30 percent of art purchases are tax-deductible.

On Saturday, the show, which features work by Brandywine Valley artists and beyond, will showcase authors Barbara Walsh and Catherine Quillman, who will be available for discussion and book sale/signing. Show hours are 7 to 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. For more information, visit http://cfes.ucfsd.org/artshow/.
