Kennett Square man, 28, killed in crash

A Kennett Square pedestrian attempting to cross Route 1 in Chester County last night was fatally struck by a vehicle, state police said this morning.

A Kennett Square pedestrian attempting to cross Route 1 in Chester County last night was fatally struck by a vehicle, state police said this morning.

Police said Matthew Davis, 28, was hit at 7:36 p.m. as he was crossing Route 1, south of Greenwood Road in East Marlborough Township. Davis was transported to Chester County Hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said. The driver was identified by state police only as a 37-year-old woman from Wilmington. An investigation is continuing; anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Trp. Elisha Bomberger at 610-268-2022.
