Hero Fund gets boost from police

The Chester County Hero Fund received an $11,000 check from the Chester County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 11 at its meeting last night.

The fund was established in early 2001 to provide support to the families of paid and volunteer first responders who suffer injury or death in the line of duty.

The FOP donation is made annually, said Todd Artz, a Phoenixville police corporal and the lodge’s vice president. Artz said funds are raised through an annual golf outing, which has contributed a total of $52,000 to the Hero Fund.
