Police: Teen reckless in fatal crash
A Kennett Square teen who was speeding and failed to stop for a red light has been charged with vehicular homicide and related offenses for causing the death of an 81-year-old West Chester man, police said.

Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police said Jose Antonio Jaimes was traveling southbound on Route 202 on Nov. 7 at 1:48 p.m. when the crash occurred. Police Harry Ernst was driving a 2006 Ford Taurus sedan and was turning from Stetson Middle School at Skiles Boulevard to go north on Route 202 when Jaimes failed to stop his 2002 GMC Yukon at a red light and struck the driver's side of Ernst's Taurus.
Ernst was pronounced dead at the scene, and his 40-year-old daughter, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was transported to Paoli Memorial Hospital with internal injuries, police said. Jaimes was not injured, police said.
Investigators said that Jaimes was traveling 57 mph in a posted 45 mph area and that neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the crash. Jaimes was arraigned Friday, and bail was set at $25,000 cash; he posted it Saturday and was released from Chester County Prison to await a Jan. 5 preliminary hearing, court records said.
