Promoting pet projects and photos

In the midst of its building overhaul, the Chester County SPCA is sponsoring two fund-raising events this weekend while a local bank is launching a photo contest for the Delaware Humane Association.

In the midst of its building overhaul, the Chester County SPCA, an independent nonprofit animal advocacy agency, is sponsoring two fund-raising events Saturday while a local bank is launching a photo contest for the Delaware Humane Association.

The 1st Annual Chester County SPCA Poker Run will take motorcycle enthusiasts to a variety of county locations, where they will pick up a poker card. At the end of the ride, prizes for the best and worst hand will be awarded. The route will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Smaltz's Harley Davidson dealer, 12 Pottstown Pike, Chester Springs, and conclude at the Twin Brook Winery, 5697 Strasburg Rd., Gap. Tickets, which are $25 with $15 for an additional rider, include one meal and drink ticket at the finish.

Once at the winery, participants may want to stick around for the 3rd Annual CCSPCA BrewBQ, which will be held from noon to 4 p.m. and includes food, libations, cooking demos, face-painting and more.

Adult admission is $25, which includes 1 food item and 2 beverage choices of wine or beer. Under 21 admission is $10 for 1 food item and 1 root beer. Adult VIP wine cellar tasting tickets are $50 and can be purchased at http://victorybeer.com/events/.

And while you're thinking about pets, consider snapping a photo for the WSFS 3rd Annual Pet Photo Contest.

Throughout August, pet-owners are encouraged to submit adorable pet photos for a chance to win prizes. The bank will donate $1 to the Delaware Human Association for every new checking account opened during the competition. To submit a photo, visit a local branch or www.wsfspetcontest.com.
