Caln commissioner to meet with Obama

Joshua Young, a Caln Township commissioner, will travel to Washington Friday to meet with members of the Obama administration and attend a reception with the president.

Continuing to boost his resume of firsts, a Caln Township commissioner will travel to Washington Friday to meet with members of the Obama administration and attend a reception with the president.

Joshua Young, 29, said he was one of fewer than 200 members of the Young Elected Officials Network, a group of young people across the country in elected office, to receive the invitation. Young said the gathering was convened to foster discussion about important issues facing states and local municipalities.

In 2005, Young, a lifelong Chester County resident, was elected to the Caln Township board at age 23, its youngest commissioner ever. Last year,  he became the youngest chairman of the Slippery Rock University council of trustees; he was 28.
