Temple's business school will being offering a massive open online course.

Temple University will begin offering its first MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) through its business school, officials announced Wednesday.

The four-week class - Quantitative Methods for Business - will begin in September. It comes through Temple's Fox School of Business Online MBA program and will  be offered via Blackboard's platform, Temple said.

Darin Kapanjie, managing director of Fox Online and Digital Learning and academic director of the Fox Online MBA and BBA programs, will teach the course.

"This graduate course will offer a broad foundation in quantitative methods so that anyone interested in business, from seasoned managers to aspiring entrepreneurs, can sharpen their skills," Kapanjie said in a prepared statement. "Students will engage in weekly class activities through WebEx, collaborate on group projects, and complete assignments just as if they were enrolled in the Online MBA program."

Students who complete the course requirements can earn a certificate of completion or course waiver from the Fox MBA program, the school said.

Temple is the latest area school to begin offering MOOCs. The University of Pennsylvania, Rutgers University and Pennsylvania State University are among the others.
