The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine has received a $1 million gift from an alumnus and his wife to be applied toward its clinical learning and assessment center.

The gift from Michael C. Saltzburg, '77, an orthopedic surgeon in Altoona, Pa., and his wife, Wendy, a retired school administrator, will be used to establish an endowment fund to help sustain the center, college officials said.

The 11,000-square-foot center, which will officially be named for the Saltzburgs at a ceremony in April, houses exam rooms, simulator training rooms, an operating room, emergency room, a surgery suite and 68 simulation trainers.

The Saltzburgs' youngest daughter, Lauren, is a third-year student at the osteopathic college.
