Einstein team wins medical jeopardy competition - again!

A team of internal medicine residents from Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia are the local champs of medical jeopardy — again.

For the third consecutive year, the team won the Southeastern Regional Championship in the American College of Physicians' Doctor's Dilemma competition on Oct. 26, the hospital announced.

Team Einstein, which hosted the competition, beat nine internal medicine teams from the University of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson University, Abington Memorial Hospital, Crozer Medical Center, Pennsylvania Hospital, Drexel University College of Medicine, Lankenau Hospital, Temple University Hospital and Christiana Hospital.

"I am so proud of the team of extraordinary residents in our Department of Internal Medicine Residency Program," Glenn Eiger, a doctor and associate chair and program director of Einstein's Department of Medicine, said in a prepared statement. "It's a real privilege to teach this brilliant group of physicians."

The team next will compete in the state championship in Hershey on Dec. 7, and if victorious, they will go on to the national championship in April in Orlando. The team has won the national championship five times.

Team members include: Doctors Jedrzej Wykretowicz, (the cooach), Apostolos Perelas, Praveen Ramakrishnan Gheetakumari, Chitra Punjabi and Jean Bustamante.
