Swarthmore College's board of managers has rescinded an honorary degree it awarded to embattled entertainer Bill Cosby in 1995.

Swarthmore's board voted to rescind the degree on Saturday and the college announced the decision to the campus community Monday. The recommendation came from both the college's honorary degree committee and the faculty of the college, and the board agreed.

Other area colleges that have rescinded Cosby's degree include Muhlenberg, Lehigh, Franklin and Marshall, Wilkes and Drexel.
