A New Hope woman was charged Wednesday with homicide by vehicle while DUI for allegedly causing the death of a motorcyclist in Solebury Township last month.
Nancy Smith, 49, of Riverstone Circle, had a blood-alcohol level of 0.288, more than three times the legal limit after the 10:30 a.m. crash on July 16, police said.
She told investigators that she drank the night before, waking at 4 a.m. to do housework after only a few hours of sleep, according to the criminal complaint filed against her.
Witnesses told police that Smith’s SUV struck a motorcyclist while she was turning from Route 202 into the Logan Square Shopping Center, the criminal complaint said. Her 15-year-old daughter was in the car with her, police said.
