Warrington man pleads guilty to making pipe bombs
The man, 50, said he had made the bombs for hunting bears. His mother found one on the kitchen counter; bomb technicians found the others in a bedroom.
John Grzyminski, 50, of Warrington, pleaded guilty Monday to illegal possession of three pipe bombs in his mother's house, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in statement.
According to the statement:
Grzyminski's mother found one small device on her kitchen counter on May 9, and bomb technicians found the other two pipe bombs in an upstairs bedroom. They also found bomb-making materials in the garage.
Grzyminski told police he had made the bombs for hunting bears, and that he also liked to throw them into lakes for entertainment. He said that he had made about 16 bombs over a 10- to 12-year period, and that the bombs in the house were about two years old.
Grzyminski faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentencing was scheduled for Jan. 4.
