$600 stolen from Bensalem 7-11

Robber smashed glass door and cash drawer, made off with money early Thursday morning.

A man with a shaved head broke into a 7-11 store on Street Road in Bensalem Township early Thursday morning and made off with about $600, police reported.

The man, about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9, with a medium build, was filmed by the store's surveillance cameras as he threw a rock through the front glass door of the store at 3508 Street Rd. at 5:11 a.m., police said.

The video shows the man running into the store with a shirt over his head but quickly falling away, revealing his face. The man jumped over the counter, demanding money from an employee, who ran out of the store, police said.

The robber then pulled a cash drawer from beneath the counter, threw it on the floor to open it, and took about $600, police said.

As the man scooped up the money on one side of the counter, the employee snuck back inside and ran around the other side of the counter to the rear of the store.

The robber then ran off.

The robbery was not related to a recent string of smash-and-grab burglaries by the so-called smoking bandit, police said.

Daniel Haggard, 44, was arrested by Philadelphia police on Aug. 17, after allegedly breaking into stores in Bensalem, Lower Southampton and Northeast Philadelphia. He allegedly stole items – mostly cigarettes -- worth more than $6,800, police said.

For the 7-11 robbery, Bensalem police are asking anyone who recognizes the man in the surveillance video to call them at 215- 633-3671.
