Levittown Library gets $80,000 for renovations

Supporters also pledge an additional $20,000 to pay for new shelves, seats, carpeting, and children's activities.

The Levittown branch of the Bucks County Free Library is getting a makeover, thanks to an $80,000 donation and pledge of an additional $20,000.

The money, raised by the Friends of the Levittown Library, is being used for new shelves, seats and carpeting for the 17-year-old library, volunteer Jim Puzo said Thursday.

The children's section has been brightened up with a fresh coat of paint, he said, and tables and activities have been added.

The library at 7311 New Falls Road will remain open during the facelift, which will extend into the fall. It is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The money was raised through book sales, flea markets, raffles, and donations. For information about the Friends of the Levittown Library, go to www.LevittownLibraryFriends.org.
