Commissioners to meet tonight for public access
First of three regular meetings shifted from normal 10 a.m. starts so people busy during the day can attend.
The Bucks County Commissioners will conduct their regular public meeting at 6 tonight, instead of the usual 10 a.m., to allow residents who are busy during the day to attend.
"We want to try something different," Commissioner Chairman Rob Loughery said last month, when he requested the scheduling change. "This will be a better way to provide access to [members of] the public who cannot come to commissioners' meetings during the day.
Commissioners meetings traditionally have been conducted at 10 a.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month. The only night meeting has been in November or December for a public hearing on the following year's budget.
Last fall, Democratic Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia and running mate Det Ansinn raised the issue of night meetings during their campaign against Republicans Loughery and Charles Martin.
Tonight's meeting will be in the first-floor Community Room at the Bucks County Courthouse. The other night meetings will be July 11 outside the courthouse and Sept. 19 at an undetermined site.
