County looking for poll workers for Nov. 8

The pay's not much, but you'll be doing your civic duty.

If you're free on Nov. 8 and are interested in civic duty, the county Board of Elections can use your help on Election Day.

Election officials open and close the county's 304 voting districts, set up voting equipment, register and sign in voters, canvas absentee ballots, and record vote totals. Officials are paid $95 to work from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; judges are paid $120 plus mileage to return supplies.

To apply, you must be a registered voter; be able to read, write and speak English; and attend a training class. Applicants are paid $10 for the class.

The Board of Elections tries to assign officials to their polling place.
