Try To Top This Quarter

The Broncos unfurled one of the great third quarters in NFL statistical history against the Eagles Sunday.

You may not remember this — we certainly forgot — but the Eagles were within one score of the Broncos when they headed to the locker room trailing by 21-13 at halftime Sunday. What happened next was one of the finest examples of offensive football strewn over 15 minutes that you may ever see.

Want proof? How's this ... 18 first downs ... in one quarter ... on 25 plays ...

For perspective — 18 first downs in one quarter is more first downs that the Jacksonville Jaguars have gained in ANY game this season ... It is more than five NFL teams are averaging in 2013 ... In 63 games so far, 40 times a team hasn't gained that many first downs over a full 60 minutes ... The average NFL team last season averaged 19.8 first downs a game ...

Below are some of the basic statistics from Sunday's third quarter. Click HERE to see the official scoresheet and detailed play-by-play.
